Mandated Migration to Digital Wireless Technology is Approaching

(December 7, 2007)

Dear Valued Customers:

This notification is to advise you of an important matter regarding analog wireless communication technology. Many alarm customers utilize wireless transmission for their security system. Typically, this wireless technology would be through a cellular or radio back-up unit to help insure alarm transmission to the alarm monitoring center. As you are most likely aware, we are entering a new era of technology where traditional analog communication is being replaced by digital communication. Until recently, the alarm industry has used analog wireless networks to provide alarm signals from a protected premises alarm system to an alarm monitoring center. However, as the wireless carriers have migrated to digital technology it has forced the alarm industry to do the same, since we rely on these wireless networks to transmit alarm signals.

Starting in the first quarter of 2008 the migration from analog technology to digital technology for the transmission of alarm signals will no longer be a voluntary option. The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ruled that wireless carriers will no longer be required to support the analog wireless networks after February 18, 2008. If your alarm system utilizes radio or cellular communication of your alarm signals to the central station, even as a back-up, you will need to take immediate action. To ensure that your security system continues to function optimally and without interruption, Stanley will need to upgrade your current analog wireless alarm transmitter with a new GSM digital wireless transmitter. Your new digital transmitter will provide you with the necessary communication link to the alarm monitoring center after February 18, 2008.

Action Required: If your alarm system uses an analog wireless transmitter and you have not yet converted it to a new GSM digital wireless transmitter, please contact Stanley CSS immediately to insure your alarm monitoring continues without interruption and with the necessary levels of alarm signal transmission. You can reach Stanley CSS at 1-877-476-4968.

We appreciate your continued business and look forward to the opportunity to work with you on the best security solution for your home or business.
